SECURITY VETTING DIRECTIVE // MANDATORY REQUIREMENT

This job position requires a mandatory National Security Clearance. Candidates must meet the essential NATO security requirements to be eligible for certification:

  • Nationality: Active citizenship of a NATO member state.
  • Background Check: Clean criminal record and a clean financial/legal history.
  • Vetting Authorization: Formal consent to personal, professional and security background vetting.

SUPPORT PROTOCOL: Gaman will actively assist the selected candidate throughout the vetting process and fully cover all associated costs. Please note that obtaining and holding this security clearance is a strict requirement for contract signature and onboarding.

01 // OBJECTIVE & OVERVIEW

Leads the research, selection, characterisation, processing and qualification of advanced materials for Gaman's aerospace, defence and space products. Oversees structural materials (composites, metallic alloys, ceramics), functional materials (smart materials, electromagnetic coatings, thermal protection systems), and additive manufacturing processes. Ensures materials traceability, qualification and compliance with space and defence standards, leveraging Gaman's expertise across Mechanical, Polymer and Textile Engineering disciplines.

02 // BASE FORMATION

  • > MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Polymer Engineering
  • > Specialisation in composite structures, advanced manufacturing, or aerospace materials
  • > Complementary training in ECSS-Q-ST-70 (space materials standards), MIL-HDBK-17, and NDT methods
  • > Knowledge of additive manufacturing qualification (ASTM F42, ISO/ASTM 52900) and surface engineering

03 // REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years in materials engineering with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role
  • Demonstrated expertise in CFRP/GFRP composite design, manufacturing and structural testing
  • Track record in aerospace or defence materials qualification, including environmental and fatigue testing
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (SLS, SLM, DMLS, FDM) for structural and functional components
  • Knowledge of thermal protection systems, EMC/radar-absorbing materials, and protective coatings
  • Experience with supply chain qualification and materials data management systems is an asset
